Friday July 5th.
Yet another good ATV Interest group meeting was held last Friday evening at the clubrooms under the guidance of David VK3JDA.
Two monsterous 16 element yagi antennas, very well made by Tony VK3CAT were on show, and Peter Cossins VK3BFG brought along some small ex repeater quad tennas to give away after discussion on the various merits of ATV tenna design. Peter also displayed his tiny little hand-held 1200 Meg. ATV yagi and accompanying little home brewed transmitter.
Those interested in home-brewing Tonys 13db monster paid some dbs of their own towards the material to get it all under way, whilst others have preferred to wait for the smaller, and less visually challenging designs which have been promised by Peter.
All good stuff this, and we were pleased to see a good turn-up again including one or two new faces who have caught the A/R bug.
The next official meeting will be on Friday 2nd.August but there is an e-mail link-up promised soon to keep everyone in touch, and its hoped that news, ATV tenna designs and mail chatter will fill in the time between meetings.
Anyone interested in joining in should let us know after the broadcast or contact David the MDRC web master shown on the links to the MDRC club website.
Friday June 7th.
Anew group interested in ATV got together at the MDRC clubrooms to discuss things ATV, and identify just what they wanted from a medium too often left in the "too hard" basket.
A goodly number of Amateurs from the MDRC and other Melb.clubs were given the "Good oil" on ATV.
MDRC ATV Guru David, VK3JDA assisted by Peter Cossins VK3BFG made it all sound, not only possible, but better yet, easily achievable from most sites around Melbourne.
Initial interest from most was simply to receive watchable signals from the ATV repeater VK3RTV, and it was soon obvious that trying to get reasonable pictures from our normal home UHF antennas was pretty much a hit and miss affair.
The initial plan was to start small and progress from there and thats just what was delivered by David and Peter.
The group agreed to meet again next month and nail down some definite plans towards a group project to start building some decent antennas for ATV.
So dont forget, next month, thats Friday 5th.July, and its certainly not too late to join in the ATV fun so you can get in touch directly with David 3JDA our MDRC web master via the club web site.
