International Museums Weekend special event  http://www.ukradioamateur.co.uk/imw/

The Moorabbin and District Radio Club is having an Open Day on Saturday 22  June.  The Club will be participating in the International Museums Weekend.

This world wide event combines radio communication with a celebration of technologies that preceded the modern tablet and smart phone world.

Radio amateurs participate by setting up a station in a local museum and try to make contact with similar stations at other museums as well as overseas stations.  In our case we have our own modest communications museum in our rooms adjacent to our radio operating room.

Come along to the MDRC club rooms at 33 Turner Road Highett and see an Amateur Radio station in operation on the 22 June between 10:00AM and 2:00PM.   Enjoy a sausage from our BBQ, see our collection of old radio equipment and learn about the multifaceted hobby of amateur radio.  Questions about Amateur Radio and electronics are welcome.
If radio transmission conditions are good you may be able to speak via our station to someone at a distant museum.
